“From”
I wanted to give you some updates about what I am watching and reading these days. I started watching the first episode of the TV series “From” and I like its intensity and theme. Unfortunately, I had to download the series via torrent since the Paramount Plus streaming service is not yet available in Sri Lanka. Major streaming services like Netflix, Amazon Prime, and Apple TV are available in Sri Lanka, but with the rapid fluctuation of the dollar rate, the cost in Sri Lankan rupees is so high that monthly subscriptions can be unaffordable for some. Therefore, most Sri Lankans are used to downloading these series through torrents, where you only have to pay for an internet connection to enjoy the latest TV series and movies.

Paramount Plus streaming service in Sri Lanka
Due to ethical reasons, I do not want to download movies illegally via torrent. I can happily say that those days are long gone for me. There was a time when I could not afford the monthly subscription for a streaming service, but since I now can, I often consider the ethics of piracy. Since Paramount Plus is not available in Sri Lanka and I do not want to activate a VPN—which also requires a monthly or annual subscription—I do not feel morally obligated to watch it legally.
I think I could watch Paramount Plus in Sri Lanka, but the process is too complicated. Even if I signed up using a VPN, I suspect I still would not be able to pay using a Sri Lankan debit or credit card. I would rather torrent it and enjoy the series than not watch it at all due to unavailability.
Netflix Vs, Amazon Prime
Right now, I have active subscriptions to Amazon Prime and Apple TV, the latter of which I subscribed to for only one month. I recently unsubscribed from Netflix, which was my primary streaming service for a long time. I subscribed to Apple TV specifically to watch the series “Monarch: Legacy of Monsters”, which I did not continue watching. The reason I unsubscribed from Netflix is due to reports that certain kids’ shows promote ideologies that I do not want my children exposed to.
“Invincible”
These days, I am watching the animated TV show “Invincible” on Amazon Prime, which is rated 18+. This is the second 18+ animated show I have started watching, after “Blood of Zeus”. Both are great shows and both require a deep discussion.

The Babylon Rite by Tom Knox
This is my favourite genre after “Science fiction”, where ancient mysteries are unearthed like the 1999 movie “The Mummy”.
